Representatives of the UNESCO Chair on Human Rights and Information Law  participated in the international conference "XXI century, new challenges and modern trends in law" organized by the Law Faculty of Baku State University which was held on December 21-22, 2021. The chairman of the organizing committee of the conference was the rector of BSU Elchin Babayev, and the deputy chairman was the head of the UNESCO Chair on Human Rights and Information Law Prof. Amir Aliyev. A total of 21 foreign scholars from 10 countries participated in the opening ceremony of the conference, as well as in the two-day sessions. Among the guests there were the rector of Tashkent State Law University Prof. Islambek Rustambekov, the rector of Kyiv Law University Prof. Yuri Boshitsky, the dean of the Law Faculty of Vilnius University Prof. Thomas Davulis, the dean of the Law Faculty of Kazan Federal University Prof. Liliya Bakulina, the dean of the Law Faculty of Ankara University Prof. Muharrem Ozen, the dean of the Law Faculty of Al-Farabi National University Prof. Daulet Baydeldinov, the dean of the Law Faculty of Istanbul University Prof. Omer Ekmekchi, the Director of the Institute of State and Law of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Prof. Aron Salimgerey, professor of Kazan Federal University Prof. Adel Abdullin, professor of Law Faculty of Istanbul University Prof. Fethi Gedikli, professor of Law Faculty of Istanbul University Prof. Juneyt Yuksel, professor of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg Prof. Azer Aliyev, professor of the Law Faculty of Ankara University Prof. Javid Abdullazade, deputy dean of the Law Faculty of Moldova State University Prof. Stela Botnaru, professor of the Law Faculty of Kazan Federal University Prof. Rustem Davletgildeev, professor of the Russian University of Technology Prof. Anatoly Belkin, professor of the Law Faculty of Istanbul University Prof. Erkan Vehbi Umut, deputy dean of the Law Faculty of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Prof. Gulnar Aygarinova, professor of the Law Faculty of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Prof. Gani Sarsenbiyev.

 

The opening ceremony was highlighted by online speeches of guests, including rector of Martin Luther Halle-Wittenberg University of Germany and Vilnius University of Lithuania. Later, an agreement on cooperation was signed between the BSU and Tashkent Law University.

The Rector of Tashkent University Prof. Islambek Rustambekov, professor of Istanbul University of Turkey Prof. Juneyt Yuksel, lecturer of the BSU Law Faculty Prof. Gulnaz Rzayeva spoke at the plenary session chaired by Prof. Thomas Davulis and Prof. Adel Abdullin.

Two sections were arranged on the first day of the conference - "Legal Theory and History in Modern Times. Problems of Constitutionalism” under the chair of Prof. Masuma Malikova and Prof. Fethi Gedikli, the other section entitled "Criminal Process and Modern Problems of Criminology" was successfully continued under the chair of the Head of the Department of Criminology and Forensics, Law Faculty of Baku State University, Prof. Kamil Salimov and Prof. Anatoly Belkin, professor of the Russian University of Technology. Several reports of local and foreign scientists were heard.

On the second day of the conference, 4 sections - "Modern Trends in the Development of Criminal Law" led by Prof. Shahla Samadova and Prof. Muharrem Ozen, "International Legal Standards: New Directions and Development of the National Legal System", chaired by Prof. Juneyt Yuksel and Prof. Samira Eyvazova, "Human Rights, Intellectual Property Law and Information law" chaired by Prof. Turgay Huseynov and Prof. Thomas Davulis, and "Modern Problems of Civil Law, Commercial Law and Labor Law" chaired by Prof. Elchin Khalafov and Prof. Vehbi Umut Erkan were continued.

Two agreements were signed on the second day of the conference. In more details, the BSU and Vilnius University of Lithuania signed an agreement on a dual degree program. According to the agreement, students of the BSU "Human Rights" specialization and students of Vilnius University will receive a double degree master diploma on "International Law and European Law". Rector of Vilnius University Elchin Babayev signed an agreement with the rector of Vilnius University who joined the conference online. There was also a signed agreement on cooperation and student exchange between the BSU and Kyiv University of Law.

A total of 195 speeches were delivered at the conference, both online and live. 110 locals and 17 foreigners spoke live, 28 locals and 41 foreigners spoke online in various sections. There were very important speeches at the conference on new areas of law and its current problems.
