The aim of the project is to raise awareness of the Convention on the prevention and action against domestic violence against women in Azerbaijan (Istanbul Convention) and other standards of gender equality. The project will cover Azerbaijani governmental agencies in three main areas of activity: legislation and policy framework, awareness-raising measures and capacity building of civil servants. Partners: Baku State University, Law Faculty; State Committee on Family, Women and Children Issues; Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights; Ministry of Justice; Academy of Justice.

 

Our staff has also participated in the academic editing of many documents and educational booklets related to the implementation of the Istanbul Convention, and cooperation in this area is still ongoing. Representatives of the UNESCO Chair on Human Rights and Information Law  participated in the project "Post-Soviet Conflicts, International Law and Security". Main participants: RUCARR - Russia and Caucasus Regional Research Institute (Malmö University-Sweden), Law Faculty (Baku State University-Azerbaijan), Faculty of Humanities (Tbilisi State University-Georgia), Faculty of Law (University of Political and Economic Studies - Moldova) , Faculty of International Relations (National Aviation University - Ukraine).

The main goal of the project is to launch a new partnership and cooperation between RUCARR and its partners based on common academic interests.

The flexible nature of such a network partnership has ideally facilitated the following:

  • regular communication between partner organizations and their employees;
  • create regular platforms for the exchange of ideas and research results;
  • serves as a driving force for general research initiatives;
  • serves as a basis for the consortium to apply for research funding;
  • expanding access to the wider research community using common academic networks.

Representatives of the UNESCO Chair on Human Rights and Information Law have published an article in a journal included in the Web of Science database

The article “Information security: legal regulations in Azerbaijan and abroad” was published in the Journal of Information Science, which is included in the Web of Science database. Included in the list of Q2 and Q3 quartile journals, as well as being a member of the Publishing Ethics Committee (COPE), the journal has 2,410 Impact Factors (Journal link: https://journals.sagepub.com/home/jis). The journal is also included in the Scopus database.

The published article is dedicated to information security issues in the world and especially in Azerbaijan. The article provides a comparative analysis of cyber security policies and legal regulations in Azerbaijan and other countries. A number of aspects of ensuring information security by legal and technological means, as well as specific features of ensuring the security of certain categories of information were highlighted. Recommendations and results are provided in both directions.
