A group of experts headed by the Chairman of the UNESCO Chair on Human Rights and Information Law, Doctor of Laws, Professor Amir Aliyev, Ph.D. in Law, Prof. Gulnaz Rzayeva, Ph.D. in Law, Associate Professor Aytekin Ibrahimova and Shahin Mammadrzali redesigned the curriculum of the master's specialization "Human Rights" and completely redesigned the entire curricula  under the project “The Implementation of the United Nations Human Rights Treaties” proposed by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to revise the curriculum for the master's degree. All curricula were published as a single collection in Azerbaijani and English languages. During the development of the new curriculum, the experts widely applied international experience in the field of human rights education.

 

Among the specialization courses in the new curriculum there are “Human rights: theoretical aspects”, “Individual human rights”, “Protection of human rights in the practice of the European Court of Human Rights”, “Problems of citizenship and migration”, “Universal protection mechanisms of human rights”, Rights of individual groups", "Regional human rights protection mechanisms", "International human rights and humanitarian law", "National human rights protection mechanisms", a brief summary of topics within the course contents such as sample questions for indidividual work, as well as a list of needed literature was provided.

At the same time, in accordance with modern standards, new curricula contains “Philosophy of human rights”, “History of human rights”, “Human rights, social and moral values”, “Human rights in the global information society”, “Sustainable development and human rights”, “New technologies and human rights”, "Fight against international crimes and human rights", "Civil society and human rights", "Women and children rights", "International and national fight against human trafficking", "Bioethics, medical law and human rights", "Human rights, peace and security” what were presented over the elective course blocks.
